This week was a challenging one for exercise. We went to the poconos overnight last weekend and Thanksgiving was of course yesterday. I did fit in 6 workouts though. I wish of course it was more, but life happens! I did earn my first accessory for my Snowman at the CBYMCA, a scarf! I also finally tried out Barre 3, a new fitness studio that opened in Doylestown.
Saturday – Spinning 1 hour and stretching
Sunday- Eliptical 45 minutes, upper and lower body resistance, stretching.
Monday – 50 minute walk outside and stretching. We were supposed to spend the day at the Great Wolf Lodge, however my son fell Sunday evening and broke his wrist. We had to leave the poconos early to take him to the orthopedic’s office. The day was gorgeous however, and I took advantage of the nice weather (70 degrees) and walked around our neighborhood after we came home from the doctor’s office.
Tuesday – Eliptical 45 minutes, upper and lower body resistance, stretching. This is usually a day off, but with snow approaching I wasn’t sure what Wednesday morning’s weather would be like. This was a long day. Up at 5 am, at the gym by 5:20 am, left for the hospital at 8am and home at 8pm. The last Tuesday of the month is our Bariatric Support Group. I put in a 10 hour day on a support group day.
Wednesday – Rest Day
Thursday – Thanksgiving Day I took a free class at the new fitness studio Barre 3 in Doylestown (1 hour)
Barre 3 Doylestown is located in The Shoppes at Blueberry Hill, 1721 S. Easton Road, Doylestown. I have experience with the Barre 3 workout through their online classes and videos, however this was my first live class.
The studio is gorgeous. Light tan and white colors make the studio very clean and inviting. There are lockers in the lobby for your use to store your belongings.
The Barre 3 workout is a combination of ballet, yoga, and pilates. There is no impact, so is great for someone like me who has been injured by high impact activities. All the equipement needed is supplied for you including mats, Barre 3 balls, towels and light hand weights. So you don’t need to take anything with you but you!
The studio is on the second floor and has a beautiful view. Ballet bars line the perimeter of the room. The workout uses both the ballet bar and the center of the room. The workout is easy to follow and really is hard work. I was sore everywhere this morning!
The staff at Barre 3 was very sweet and the instructor was very friendly. If you bring in 3 canned goods by November 30th you can earn a free class (that’s what I did!) I purchased a new client- 3 class package so I can try out a few more classes.
Friday – I was pretty sore from Barre 3, but still needed to “move” so I used the treadmill for 45 minutes today. I used a small incline for about 10 minutes, but did most of the workout with no incline.
Finally on this Fitness Friday I wanted to share with you a special that my good friend and trainer Brent is running this weekend. Check out his website for details Body By Brent.
