This year for the first time I put together a Foodie Holiday Shopping Guide for you. Most of these items I either own or are on my Christmas list. This list has everything you need to start 2016 off in a healthy way from cookbooks, to cooking equipment, and exercise videos.
This book is written by a blogger friend of mine , Katie Webster. If you love maple syrup you will love this book. There are recipes for breakfast, snacks, drinks, main dishes, and dessert all using pure maple syrup. Check out my review.
I was sent a copy of this book to review last month. My Vitamix came with a recipe book, however this new cookbook has so many more recipes. A Vitamix can make so much more than smoothies. You will find recipes for dips, soups, main dishes, and desserts in the cookbook.
I recommend the DASH diet to many of my clients who are living with medical issues like high blood pressure and diabetes. Following a new eating plan is so much easier when you have recipes to follow. No guessing about what to eat any longer!
We all can benefit from eating more meatless meals. This cookbook is from the popular blog Oh She Glows featuring vegan recipes.
Skinnytaste is a food blog known for it’s lighter recipes. All recipes are converted into Weight Watcher points as well. Even though these recipes are light on calories does not mean they are light on taste.
Green smoothies have become very popular. Don’t make the same old smoothie! Try the 100+ recipes put together by Simple Green Smoothies.
Zucchini noodles have become a popular replacement for pasta for those who need to remove grains from their diet. With a spiralizer you can turn just about any vegetables into noodles.
Not sure what to do with spiralized veggies? The cookbook will give you lots of ideas.
I have had a KitchenAid mixer since I was married 15 years ago. I love my mixer so much that it stays permanently on my kitchen counter.
A food processor is a great kitchen appliance to have to speed up your food prep.
This crock pot is much prettier than mine! Slow Cooking can help you save so much time in the kitchen and allow you to have more homemade meals.
Le Creuset is my favorite cookware company. I have several cast iron dutch ovens and baking dishes.
This skillet can be use on top and in the stove.
This herb mill make chopping herbs much faster.
I love my Vitamix. You can make the best soups and smoothies in this machine. Get this to go with a few of the cookbooks on this list.
I used to run, but do to injury I have to stick to non impact exercise. I get tired of the elliptical and spin classes ever once in a while. It’s nice to have the ability to workout at home with videos. Chalene Johnson’s PiYo workout DVD’s are my favorite. PiYo is a mix of yoga and Pilates exercises that will help you strengthen and lengthen your body.
I was sent the EatSmart digital thermometer to try out. I used to use a regular food thermometer, but hated having to wait for the dial to decide on a temperature. It’s so important for your health to cook foods to their safe and proper temperature. This digital thermometer gives you instant accurate readings.
This is the food scale that I own. I suggest a food scale to my clients who are trying to practice portion control. Proteins are often measured in ounces, so a scale is the best measuring tool.
